Our Fairytale Market is a celebration of the captivating duality found in the beloved fairytale stories of heroes and villains.

It's a place where enchanting worlds come to life and imagination knows no bounds.

We will have 2 food trucks + 50 businesses (authors included) who draw inspiration from our most beloved fairytales and books, the magical, the mythical, and the whimsical to create an unforgettable experience.

As you step into our market, you'll find yourself at the crossroads of our Villains Lair where villains lurk and dark magic reigns. This side of the market will captivate those drawn to darker, more thrilling aspects of fairytales. Be careful on this side, you may bump into characters that you will recognize but how well do you know their story?

On the other side of our market, is our Heroe's Haven where you can immerse yourself in the light and wonder, where heroes embark on their journey, magic fills the air and hope shines brightly. This side of the market celebrates courage, love and triumph of good.

But who will you bump into? Will you help the Mad Hatter find Alice? Will you assist Hook with a plan to capture Pan? We will have really fun roving entertainers for plenty of photo ops!

Remember, there's always more to the story - every hero has a journey and every villain has a reason.

  • DIANELLA COMMUNITY CENTRE (map)

Step into the whimsical world of ‘Enchanted Ink: Fairy tales Reimagined’, a detailed collection of ink illustrations that explore timeless fairy tales and childhood stories. It is an exhibition for the young and young at heart, reflecting on stories that we’ve grown up with and we still admire as adults. This series is a compilation of drawings by local artist Jessica Jane, giving her own spin on illustrated tales and magical ideas, from designing Cinderella’s ball gown to creating her own vision of the Emerald City.

Visitors will be enchanted by the illustrated scenes and delicate tiny details of ink drawing techniques. Look closer and see a mixture of cross hatching, stippling and line work used to create outlines, contrast and shading. The more you look, the more hidden gems you will find.

Jessica Jane is a Wyndham based illustrator and designer. Jessica completed a Bachelor of Illustration in 2016 and since has been exhibiting in galleries, artist markets and selling her art online and in stores. Her personal work focuses on detailed, whimsical ink drawings, with themes such as animals, nature, travel, costume and stories.

Bushfire Relief Art Fundraiser

The response to the call out for artwork has been overwhelming and inspiring ♥️ it’s been beautiful to see the artistic community rally behind an event that has impacted us all. It’s hard in the face of such destruction to be disheartened and feel powerless, but doing something, even when it could feel insignificant, when done as a community is powerful in ways we can never predict.
Some of the artists involved in this project have been directly involved in the fires. Everyone has been effected at some level. Acting as a community we have already seen huge amounts of money raised but it’s going to take much more and everyone to get behind and support projects like these whenever we can. ✊

Thursday the 23rd of January is going to be the exhibition//silent art auction at Bar 303 along with music by

Sunbeams and rockets
https://sunbeamsandrockets.bandcamp.com

World Sick

Nova
https://novamelbourne.bandcamp.com

All proceeds of the art sold will be going directly to victims of the bushfires.

The call out for artwork for the post card//zine packs deadline is January 10th and the deadline for submissions for the exhibition will be squeezing it in as late as I humanly can at the 22nd of January
, so if you’re an artist, know an artist or just want to have a go at expressing your feelings on paper for a cathartic change, please get in touch with @scrawnart through Instagram dm or micah.james.winter@gmail.com

Special thanks to @hagclub (Instagram) for the image (their submission that I edited to fit the poster, original image will be in the postcard//zine pack and a print will be available for purchase at the show)
And to @mustwegospellingitout (Instagram) for booking the bands and playing on the night!
