In this 4 week intensive class you will learn to make detailed drawings from start to finish and more! Each week covers a different topic. Learn techniques and go through the drawing process to create your own botanical and animal illustrations. Study Australian native plants and animals whilst learning how to make detailed ink drawings using artist quality materials.
Learn how to draw from life, tracing techniques, outline drawing, rendering, toning and using different drawing techniques such as stippling and crosshatching. Learn Jessica’s own step by step process on drawing whimsically, detailed black ink flora and fauna illustrations. Leave with 3 - 4 new artworks, a higher appreciation for the unique flora and fauna we live with and the knowledge and skills to continue drawing on your own. No experience required!

Week 1: PET DRAWING 1st March 2020
Learn to draw a realistic, detailed illustration of your very own loveable pet. Get one on one tailored guidance for drawing techniques for fur babies too scaly lizards and beyond. If you don’t have a pet to draw from you may choose to make a sketch of your favourite animal! Get pre class photography tips for taking photos of you pets to draw from.
Week 2 BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION 8th March 2020
Observational drawing week. Pick out from an arrangement of native Australian flora plants and learn to study and observe the 3D form and translate it to a 2D piece of paper. View Jessica’s collection of flora illustrations and learn her drawing techniques from start to finish.
Week 3 AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE DRAWING 15th March 2020
Study native animals and draw from photo references to create your own wildlife illustration. View Jessica’s collection of fauna illustrations and learn her drawing techniques from start to finish.
Week 4 FINISHING TECHNIQUES 22nd March 2020
Bring unfinished illustrations back to class and get tailored feedback on finishing your artwork. Being highly focused on detailed illustrations most drawings need more than a 2 hour class to complete. Whilst finishing drawings or starting new ones gain a special insight on how to use Photoshop to prepare scanned drawings for print and screen view. Jessica will do a live presentation of preparing a scanned image using a Wacom tablet and Photoshop. Participants have an opportunity to try out these applications for themselves.
